"Emirates can confirm that its flight EK237 from Dubai International Airport to Boston Logan International Airport on August 10 experienced a small engine fire on landing," an airline spokesperson said.
The fire was quickly extinguished, the airline said. There were no reported injuries among the 349 passengers and 19 crew members, Gulf News reported today.
The Boeing 777-300ER has been grounded in Boston after the incident, it said.
The plane was towed to the gate, where passengers were able to disembark, Massachusetts Port Authority spokesman Matthew Brelis was quoted as saying by Boston Globe newspaper.
Emirates has dispatched a second aircraft to pick up the passengers that were due to travel on the Boston-to-Dubai route yesterday.
Flight EK238 to Dubai is now expected to land in Dubai tomorrow morning, 12 hours after its scheduled arrival time, Gulf News reported.
"Emirates apologises for the inconvenience; its paramount consideration at all times is the safety of its passengers and crew," the airline spokesperson was quoted as saying.
