A local court today sent the prime accused in the murder of two engineers in Darbhanga, to police remand for three days.
Investigating Officer of the case Sitaram Prasad produced Mukesh Pathak in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge(I) A K Srivastava and submitted an application seeking to take him on remand for 10 days for interrogation.
The court then allowed three days of police remand.
Pathak, who had been evading arrest, was apprehended by the special task force yesterday from Ramgarh district of Jharkhand.
There are 16 cases against Pathak in various districts for crimes like murder, exportion, atrocities against women, Additional Director General of Police, Headquarters, Sunil Kumar had told reporters yesterday.
Pathak had escaped from judicial custody on July 22 last year, he added.
Unidentified assailants gunned down the engineers Brajesh Kumar and Mukesh Kumar near Kusheshwarsthan on December 26 last year over non-payment of levy by a private road construction company engaged in the construction of state highway between Varnapur in Samastipur district to Kusheshwarsthan in Darbhanga district.
Meanwhile, senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi today questioned the state government how Pathak managed to escape from the jail and how he got married inside the prison.
