The under-trial prisoner Budh Ram Nayak of Jenyadhupa under Laluk police station in Assam's Lakhimpur district was arrested on February 21, Capital SP Seju P Kuruvilla said here today.
Nayak along with two other under-trial prisoners, namely, Farooq Islam and Md Majibur Rahman had escaped from district jail here on the night of August 24, 2012.
A case was registered at Itanagar PS in this connection and search operation was launched.
Meanwhile, the accused was produced before the Court of CJM, Yupia and remanded to judicial custody, police said.
All out efforts have been initiated for an early apprehension of the remaining escaped undertrial prisoner Majibur Rahman, the SP added.
Nayak was put in jail in connection with a gruesome murder case, while a theft case had been registered against Islam.
Rahman was involved in a rape and twin murder case of Itanagar in the year 2008.
