"We have arrested the accused from Hyderabad and rescued the victim. A case has been registered in the Cantonment police station," city DCP S Praveen Kumar said.
According to the police, sub-inspector of Mangalabag police station Sirin Akhtar went missing on February 12 evening.
She was married to the ex-serviceman Samim-ul Alamia ten years ago and ahd approached a family court for separation.
Sirin's father Choudhury Saifuddin unable to trace her and finding her cell phone switched off, made a written complaint at Cantonment police station stating that Sirin had been kidnapped by her estranged husband.
Sirin, a mother of two children, said she was forcibly taken to Hyderabad by her estranged husband.
The husband was charged under section 366 (kidnapping) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC. He was brought here on transit remand.
