With students and guardians hitting the streets protesting against faulty evaluation in the Third Language papers in the High School Certificate (HSC) examinations, the results of which were announced yesterday, Odisha government today accepted the mistake and announced to correct the errors by tomorrow.
"In the Third Language papers there were some mistakes in evaluation due to systemic error in the computer. Our officials have already rectified the error. We will upload the modified mark sheets by this evening or tomorrow morning," School and Mass Education Secretary Usha Padhee said.
There was widespread resentment among the students and guardians soon after the results were announced. The guardians pointed out that the students, securing 90 percent marks in the subjective papers, found gross anomaly in the marks secured in the Third Language papers in Sanskrit and Hindi, in the optical mark recognition (OMR) sheets, which were evaluated by computers.
Padhee's statement came after students and guardians demonstrated both in the state capital and before the office of the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) at Cuttack.
The department has also asked the BSE authorities to submit a report regarding wrong valuation in the answer papers of the HSC exam.
BSE president Dakshya Prasad Nanda said the students would get revised mark sheets by Friday.
