The team, comprising R Satish Kumar, Under Secretary, Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Dr MG Sridhar, Coordinator of JIPMER-Karaikal besides experts from various fields of medical education inspected the makeshift campus for holding classes.
A three-storey building, constructed originally for the Nursing College at Karaikal near the Karaikal GH, will serve as the makeshift campus of JIPMER-Karaikal.
District Collector E Vallavan said the team inspected the building and also the 78-acre land earmarked for construction of the permanent campus.
The new college is being formed as a branch of Puducherry's prestigious medical institution Jawaharlal Institute of Post-graduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER).
