Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and state unit BJP President Raosaheb Danve reviewed the performance of BJP candidates who lost during the October 15 Assembly election here today.
"We reviewed factors which led to the defeat of BJP candidates in the Assembly polls," Fadnavis told reporters after the meeting at Vidhan Bhawan this evening.
"Altogether, 104 BJP candidates, who lost the polls, attended the meeting," former BJP MLC Pasha Patel, who lost the October poll from Ausa in Marathwada, said.
Incidentally, the BJP has 121 MLAs in the 288-member House.
Fadnavis asked those present to work with dedication in the BJP's membership enrollment drive which aims to register one crore new party members in Maharashtra.
"You are not defeated candidates but future MLAs. You will be given due respect," Fadnavis assured them. "You will get opportunities as per your capacity," he said.
The Maharashtra Chief Minister said that the BJP-led government is committed to address issues concerning the agrarian sector.
"However, the previous Congress-NCP government has left behind a state reeling under a huge debt burden. We need Rs 52,000 crore merely to implement projects announced by the earlier regime," Fadnavis said.
"We are confident that within a year, we will turn the state around and usher in 'achche din' for the people," he told the gathering.
