Rahul Kumar, a resident of Gurdaspur district, has been arrested from Dharmshala, Kangra in Himachal Pradesh, an official spokesperson said.
Rahul was impersonating as an IPS officer posted as SP, Vigilance Bureau. An FIR has been registered against him in Batala under various sections of IPC, he said.
The impersonator used to call government officers/officials and tell them that he has received a corruption related complaint against them and demanded money to settle the matter, the spokesperson said.
Rahul was earlier arrested by Flying Squad of Vigilance Bureau in 2013 and FIRs was lodged against him in Police Station Vigilance Bureau, Flying Squad, Mohali.
