Families are spending barely half an hour of quality time together during the week as demands of modern life keep them busy, a new UK study has found.
Parents and children get together for less than eight hours in total each week, the survey of 2,000 parents found.
Weekends are best with an average of two hours and 20 minutes on Saturdays and Sundays given over to family time.
However, in the week 'family time' shrinks to 36 minutes a day. This was blamed on parents working long hours, chores, clubs and school.
When families do get together many just spend the time watching TV in silence, the 'Daily Express' reported.
Grandparents also missed out with their families visiting just six times a year.
Also, over half of the parents polled said their only 'real' time together was on holiday.
Families are busier than ever, concluded the survey for Virgin Holidays and Universal Orlando Resort.
