The 'Farm Tourism' concept is fast "gaining ground" as six new farm houses in Haryana have been registered under the scheme raising the number to 19, a top state tourism official said today.
Principal Secretary (Haryana Tourism) Sumita Misra said many farmhouse owners are now coming forward to get registered under the scheme.
"By increasing the window of registration of farm house owners from three to five years, many farmhouse owners are now coming forward to get registered," she said.
The houses, registered recently, are located in Gurgaon and Jhajjar districts.
Earlier, 13 farmhouses in Gurgaon, Faridabad, Karnal, Jhajjar, Mewat and Rohtak were registered under the scheme, she said.
"The newly registered farmhouses offer a host of facilities and activities for tourists, including tented accommodation, conference hall, mud baths, ayurvedic treatment, adventure sports, mini golf course, archery and boxing," she said.
"For registration, preference is given to the farms that have 3-4 acres agricultural land attached with it. It is mandatory to have two rooms to sublet and the farmhouse owner is supposed to provide home cooked food, lodging facilities and introduce the visitor to different agricultural practices to give a glimpse of the ethnic way of life," she added.
