Farmer leaders from Uttar Pradesh and some other states will meet here tomorrow to map out a common plan to agitate for their demands.

"Farmer leaders from different states including including Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh are likely to attend the event," Rashtriya Kisan Manch president Shekhar Dixit said today.

"Saturday's meeting will be an attempt to bring all farmer organizations working in the country under one umbrella to highlight the plight of farmers in an effective manner," he told reporters.

"This will also ensure speedy redressal of farmers' grievances," he said.

The Uttar Pradesh-based body, which is organizing the meeting, has often accused the Yogi Adityanath government of failing to fulfil promises made before the assembly election.

Dixit said the meeting is an attempt to wake up the ruling party and the state government and apprise them of the hardships being faced by the farming community.

"Both the Centre and the state government talk about enhancing the income of farmers. But the reality is that there is no visible road map to implement this," he said.

He said the agrarian crisis in the country was at an "explosive" stage.

"If the government does not wake up, the farmer organizations will gherao the UP Vidhan Bhawan before the monsoon session."
