A 50-year-old farmer, who was in an 'inebriated' state, died after allegedly falling into a well in Jhadwan village here, police said today.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Jagdish Sharma said that the farmer, identified as Rakesh, went to the field last night to pool water from the well when he slipped and fell.
He was stated to be in an inebriated state, Sharma said.
When he didn't return home, his family went looking for him in the fields. Upon calling his mobile phone, they traced the sound from the well and found his body inside.
Later, the body was fished out of the well, he said, adding that the family avoided taking any legal action.
