Farmer found killed by carnivore in farm near Kaotli village

In the first incident of man-animal conflict this year, a farmer was killed by a carnivore, sometime during Wednesday night.
The incident took place near Kaotli village under the Kothari range of forests in the district, it is reported.
According to information given by forest officials, the victim namely, Manohar Borule (55), a farmer from the village who was on night vigil at his farm was found killed, reportedly by a carnivore.
On Thursday morning, his body was found near his farm located on the outskirts of his village and the incident was reported to forest officials.
According to Range Forest Officer (Kothari Range), S N Bhandari, canine marks on his dead body are indicative of the fact that Borule was the victim of a carnivore attack.
He stated that it was yet to be confirmed whether it was a tiger attack or that of leopard, since no pugmarks were found in the vicinity of the incident.
He informed that samples of swabs from wounds on the victim's body have been collected and sent to the Cellular and Molecular Biology Lab at Hyderabad to test and confirm the identity of the predator.
It was also informed that an ex-gratia amount of Rs 25,000 has been given to the kin of the deceased, while the remaining compensation amount would be paid after official formalities.
