Aam Aadmi Party today filed a complaint with the police alleging that Union Urban Development Ministry and DDA gave land at throw-away price to a private developer for redevelopment of a slum cluster in posh New Delhi area.
In its complaint to the police, the party alleged that the land to redevelop Kathputli colony was given to the developer flouting rules and help it make "huge profits".
The complaint was filed at Ranjit Nagar police station by Ashish Khaitan of AAP, who had unsuccesfully contested from the New Delhi Lok Sabha consituency. Khaitan had made the allegations during the election campaign also and claimed it was a Rs 1000 crore scam.
No FIR has been lodged in the case yet. AAP has claimed that the police officials concerned have sought a week to respond on the complaint.
"Since the Delhi Police is under the direct control of the Union Home Ministry, the onus of ensuring a thorough and impartial probe into the matter now squarely lies with BJP.
"AAP hopes that BJP will live upto its election promise and ensure justice for the affected people in the heart of the national capital," AAP said in a statement.
