Farmers' advocacy group Vidarbha Jan Andolan Samiti today demanded resignation of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for failing to take up the agenda of separate Vidarbha with the Centre after BJP President Amit Shah reportedly said that his party never promised one.
The group demands resignation of Chief Minister Fadanvis, Finance Minister Sudhir Mungattiwar and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for their failure to convince the national leadership on creation of separate Vidarbha which was in the election manifesto of the BJP, Samiti President Kishore Tiwari said in a release here.
Shah was quoted as saying "BJP never promised for a separate Vidarbha state" in a section of media today.
Pro-Vidarbha leaders advocate Shrihari Aney, advocate Mukesh Samarth, Umesh Choube, former Director General of Police Prabir Chakarborty also criticised Shah.
Shah may not be aware that BJP has already passed a resolution for creating Vidarbha in its Bhubneshwar national meeting in the past, the release said.
