A delayed official report reaching here today said the fire at Fengche villaget occurred on late Tuesday night when the residents of the house were asleep.
While the others escaped, the father and his daughter could not be rescued.
The blaze occured when that the family forgot to douse a fire it was using before retiring for the night, the report said.
