A day after Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar called for unity of Extremely Backward Castes (EBC) to foil NDA's bid to wrest power in Bihar, the BJP today hit back at him saying the "fear" of "jungle raj" was revived after JD(U)'s joining hands with RJD.
"Kumar has revived fear of 'jungle raj' in Bihar by joining hands with the RJD supremo Lalu Prasad. During his party's 15-year rule, the EBCs had suffered the most," senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi said in a statement.
RJD-backed criminals and anti-social elements had committed atrocities on EBCs, SCs and women for many years due to which these people rallied behind the NDA to oust the RJD from power in 2005 and reduced their seats to 24 in the last Assembly elections, Modi claimed.
Kumar has committed a "cardinal sin" by resurrecting the RJD and the fear of 'jungle raj' is back again, he said adding the chief minister wants to share power with RJD after betraying the BJP-led NDA which had a mandate to rule Bihar, the former deputy chief minister said.
The senior BJP leader said that fortunes of sizeable EBC population changes for good only during the NDA government which provided reservations for them in jobs and panchayat bodies at the insistence of the saffron party.
Claiming that the OBCs have lost trust in the senior JD(U) leader ever since he joined hands with the RJD supremo, he said the NDA's success in Bihar during general elections last year would not have been possible without massive support from these deprived section of the society.
Modi also urged the EBCs not to get fooled by Kumar and the RJD chief again as, he said, only the BJP-led NDA could cater to their aspiration for development and prosperity.
