Concerned over the alleged rape of a female lawyer by her senior colleague in his chamber at the Saket district court here, Delhi High Court Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal today held a meeting to discuss the issue.
Justice Mittal called a meeting of the Administrative Committee of the Delhi High Court, district and sessions judges, Registrar General and Registrar (Vigilance) of the High Court today morning to discuss the situation, a source in the acting chief justice's secretariat said.
After the meeting, the high court issued directions to judges of the district courts to improve the safety of women in all courts, the source said.
According to police, the victim in her statement has said that the accused, who was in an inebriated condition, had sexually assaulted her in his chamber on July 14.
She had informed police about the incident on the intervening night of July 14 and 15.
Police had registered a case of rape and the accused lawyer, who is in his 50s, was arrested from South Delhi's Sangam Vihar area and later produced before the Saket court.
