Filing of nominations for urban local bodies to commence tom

Filing of nominations for 52 urban local bodies, 29 Municipal Councils and 23 Nagar Panchayats will commence tomorrow.
The last day for filing nominations is December 29, scrutiny would take place onDecember 30 and elections would be held in a single phase on January 10, 2015, officials said.
The polling will be held for 446 wards and elections for Shimla and DharamsalaMunicipal Corporations are not being held simultaneously.
The Local urban bodies polls are not been contested on party basis, but both BJP and Congress have announced their candidates and released the lists for municipal polls.
In 2010, direct elections were held for the post of president of Municipal bodies but this time the elections would be held indirectly and councillors would elect the president.

Meanwhile, polling for Panchayat polls in 10 districts, barring Kangra and Lahaul and Spiti, would be held in three phases on January 1, 3 and 5, while the elections in Kangra would be held on January 10 and 12 in two phases.
