Film director Sachendra Sharma filed for a pre-arrest bail in the special women's court, public prosecutor Nilima Kasture told PTI.
"The court granted Sharma interim protection from arrest till December 18," said Sharma's lawyer Avinash Kumar Dubey.
In his bail plea, the director has said that he has been implicated in the case and is in no way involved in it.
The Santacruz police, in suburban Mumbai, had registered a case against director of soon-to-be released movie 'Mumbai Can Dance Saala' for assaulting Sawant's friend.
Sharma was booked on the charge of molestation and voluntarily causing hurt under Indian Penal Code.
