"Shooting abroad becomes more economical than in India; reason being too many permissions and hassles. You need 76 various kinds of permissions, right from police, RTO, customs etc. I find it obnoxious," Bhatt said.
Bhatt said that the rot runs deep in India and filmmakers have to cough up money to get the work done which is not the case in foreign countries.
"We end up giving money over and under the table whereas when we shoot abroad we get a red carpet welcome, it (shooting) turns out to be cheap," he said.
"I hope things will change soon so that filmmakers can capture the beauty of India on screen," the producer added.
