FIR registered against Apna Dal MP

The police today registered an FIR against Apna Dal MP Harivansh Singh and others in connection with the recent incident of firing and brickbatting during a no-confidence motion against a block head in Khuthan area here.
The case was registered on the basis of a complaint lodged by Rajiv Kumar Yadav of Pilkitcha village at the Khuthan police station on November 6, the day of the incident, SSP KK Chaudhary said.
The complainant had alleged that the MP, his son, his two nephews and 20 armed persons had opened fire on locals present there, he said.
"The FIR was lodged today and investigations have started," the SSP said.

On November 6, during a meeting to discuss no-confidence motion against Khuthan block pramukh Saryu Devi Yadav, some people had indulged in brick-batting on the BDC members and also fired in the air.
Later, the district administration lodged an FIR against 161 people naming BSP MLC Brijesh Singh, former MP Dhananjay Singh and former minister and SP MLA, Shailendra Yadav.

Yesterday, the Samajwadi Party had demanded a probe by the CBI into the incident even as the MP wrote a letter to Chief Minister Yogi Adiyanath demanding "Z" category security cover for himself as well as proper security arrangements for his son Ramesh Singh.

In the letter, Harivansh Singh also alleged that he, his son and daughter-in-law were attacked during the meeting and that they faced threat to their lives.
Singh presently has "X" category security cover and he has said that he is ready to pay for the security for his son.
Apna Dal is an alliance partner in the NDA government both at the Centre and state.
