Fire broke out for the second time today in a building of the state-run SSKM hospital here within a span of 10 days, though it was doused in a few minutes.
The fire broke out at the Woodburn Ward of the SSKM Hospital, the main referral hospital of the state, at around 5.58 pm, caused by a minor electrical fault, a senior Kolkata Police officer said.
The flames were put out at 6.02 pm by a combined team of fire brigade, local police and officials of the CESC, the officer said.
"There was no report of any human injury or casualty," he said.
On November 21, a fire had broken out inside a library on the sixth floor of Ronald Ross Building within the hospital complex which was doused after 19 fire tenders battled for an hour.
Soon after the incident, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had said that since SSKM was a big hospital, a permanent fire station would be set up within the complex with two fire tenders and a ladder to boot.
