There was no report of any injuries, they said.
The blaze, which started in the market early this morning, quickly spread to some mechanic shops outside and the parking nearby, they said, adding that its cause is not known as yet.
The fire could have led to a major tragedy and two fire engines were pressed into service to control the blaze in about an hour, they added.
