The entry of public in the Karkardooma district courts complex would be restricted from Monday through passes issued by advocates, a fortnight after a firing incident inside a courtroom in which a police officer was killed and an undertrial injured.
In a circular issued by the District and Sessions Judge (East), the entry of litigants in the court building from January 11 would be only through passes issued by the concerned advocates. No other person would be given access.
"This is to bring to kind notice of all the lawyers/ litigants/accused persons that with effect from January 11, entry to court building will be allowed only to the parties to the proceedings i.E. Accused persons/plaintiffs/defendants/ appellants/revisionists/respondents only.
"No other persons such as relatives/parokars will be allowed entry into court building," the circular said.
The order made exception in cases where differently-abled persons, elderly, women and children were parties, who would be allowed entry along with an escort.
A group of "contract killers", all minors, had opened fire inside a courtroom here on December 23 in which a Delhi Police head constable was killed and an undertrial critically injured. Four juveniles were apprehended on the spot.
The firing inside court number 73 at the east Delhi court complex had highlighted various security lapses.
"Entry passes will be issued by the advocates for the parties. In case the party is yet to engage a counsel, he/she will get the pass issued from the Pass Counters," it said.
The circular further said the witnesses, sureties and others would be allowed entry on the basis of summons issued to them by the courts and added that everyone seeking entry should carry photo identity cards to enter the complex.
