Two separate FIRs were filed today against yoga guru Ramdev, one of them by Uttar Pradesh police, for his controversial remarks that Rahul Gandhi visited Dalits' homes for honeymoon.
"An FIR has been lodged against Baba Ramdev at Mahanagar police station under relevant section 171(g) (false statement in connection with an election) of IPC," Additional Superintendent of Police Habibul Hassan told PTI in Lucknow.
The FIR was lodged by police after analysing the video clipping of Ramdev's statement made yesterday.
In Sonbhadra, zila panchayat chairman Anita Rakesh lodged an FIR against Ramdev for allegedly insulting Dalits.
Anita charged Ramdev has insulted Dalits and strict action should be taken against him.
Ramdev, who has been supporting BJP, had yesterday alleged the Congress vice-president goes to the houses of Dalits "for honeymoon and picnic".
Meanwhile, BSP workers and activists of dalit organisations staged demonstrations at several places against Ramdev's remarks and demanded action against him.
