The first ever Chinese film shot in India with Sino-Indian theme is all set to make a debut in China shortly as India showcased some of its recent Bollywood hits at its film festival here in a bid to rediscover the trail left by Raj Kapoor's 'Awara' in 1950s.
The new Chinese film, 'My Amazing Trip to India', which graphically portrays the travails faced by a Chinese traveller in India, is set to be released all over China in the next few months, Zhang Jian Ya, the director of the film, told the media on the sidelines of the Indian film festival here last night.
According to the director and the producer Zhang Jiajun, who shelled out USD two lakh for shooting the film in India, this is the first ever Chinese film ever shot in India or made with an Indian theme.
Most of the shooting of the film, involving four Indian actors including heroine Ridhima, was done in Rajasthan.
Zhang Jian Ya along with young Chinese director Fan Lixin were designated as promotional ambassadors to the Indian film festival in which India showcased 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag'. Other movies are 'Jodha Akbar', 'Taare Zameen Par', 'Dil Chahta Hai', 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara', 'Oh My God', 'Queen' and Malayalam film 'Majadikuru'.
Underlining the importance of films to bring people of the two countries together, Indian Ambassador to China, Ashok K Kantha spoke how the song 'Awara hoon' was on the lips of generations of Chinese. He said there was a need for the new generation of films to bring that kind of connectivity.
The films would be shown in five different Chinese cities in the coming months.
Zhang Jiajun said he was fascinated by Indian movies since childhood, specially 'Awara' and wants to make films in India.
