Fishermen leader Ramchandra Patil no more

Fishermen community leader Ramchandra Kana Patil died tonight at a hospital in Mumbai due to protracted illness.

He was 79.

Patil was the president of the Maharashtra Macchimar Action Committee.

He started his social work as an activist of the Rashtra Seva Dal.

He had also served as the Asia representative of the World Fish Forum People.

Patil is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.

His funeral will take place tomorrow at Vadrai village in Palghar district, his family sources said.
