Five hardcore cadres of a militant outfit surrendered along with arms and ammunition before police in Meghalaya's South Garo Hills District, police said.
"The five cadres of A'chik Songna An'pachakgipa Kotok (ASAK) surrendered in Baghmara police station," Inspector General of Police GHP Raju said.
They are Raksing Marak alias Arakim (19), Bikash M Sangma alias Jorang (24), Dengcheng N Sangma alias Muksong (22), Minseng M Marak alias Chiwak (22) and Bikam Ch Marak alias Wancha (23), he said, adding that they deposited three pistols and a grenade.
The ASAK cadres had surrendered yesterday, the same day when five cadres of the proscribed Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) had surrendered in North Garo Hills District. The GNLA cadres had also deposited huge cache of arms and ammunition.
In the past two weeks, 13 militants have surrendered in Garo Hills, including five in South Garo Hills and the rest in West Garo Hills.
