Pixel, a 19-month-old munchkin cat, belongs to Tiffani Kjedergaard who lives in a ranch in Potrero, California.
Her owner has put Pixel forward to be measured by the Guinness World Records.
Pixel is believed to have beaten a previous record set in 2012 by her mother Fizz Girl who stood at six inches.
The breed has a rare gene make up, meaning they are born with short legs, according to 'metro.Co.Uk'.
Tiffani, who has a house full of munchkin cats says such small pets around the house does present a unique set of problems.
Tiffani is now waiting for verification from Guinness before Pixel can enter the record books.
