Five prison officials suspended

Four jail superintendents and an assistant Inspector General of Police, of different jails, have been suspended on charges of dereliction of duty, a senior home department official said today.
Birsa Munda Jail Superintendent D K Pradhan and three superintendents of other jails were suspended on charges of dereliction of duties, found during a raid in 23 jails in the intervening night of July 6 and 7, he said.
Some other jail officials were served show cause notice, he said adding some mobiles and materials were seized during the raids.
