A day after a 20-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped and set on fire, the main accused in the case was arrested from a bus station here today.
Farman was arrested by the police from roadways bus stand here.
According to the FIR, Farman and his five associates allegedly set the girl on fire after raping her.
The girl was in a relationship with Farman and on Thursday she had gone to his house to ask him to marry her when the incident took place.
The girl, who was rushed to the district hospital and later referred to Safai hospital, is said to be in critical condition, police said.
Infuriated over the incident, locals had tried to set Farman's house ablaze yesterday, but elders in the village mediated and brought the situation under control.
