The accused, identified as Surjeet (25), has been booked under relevant sections of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and arrested immediately, said a senior police official.
According to the police, the accused works as a driver and lives in the same colony in Dwarka north where the victim lives with her family. Finding the girl alone at her residence last evening, the accused allegedly molested her and tried to force himself upon her.
After the incident, he fled from the spot, fearing that the victim's mother had come back home. He also allegedly threatening the girl of dire consequences if she reported the matter to anyone.
The girl was rushed to a hospital and then given counselling by an NGO in the presence of her mother.
Meanwhile, a police team was rushed to the locality and Surjeet arrested from his house, the senior official added.
