A flock of 30 sheep were found dead with injury marks on their body at a water tank in a village in the district today, police said.
Police said Karuppu, a farmer of Kosavapatti, had left his sheep for grazing in the tank and returned home. When he came back, he was shocked to find them dead with injury marks, indicating attack by some wild animals.
The injury marks were being analysed to identity the wild animal that attacked the sheep, they said.
The incident caused a flutter and scare among the villagers.
