A 40-year-old forest employee was today killed by a rhino at Rajiv Gandhi National Park Orang in Assam, an official said.
Three forest guards this morning went on foot patrolling and suddenly a female rhino and her calf attacked them at the boundary of the Park near the Pachnoi river in Sonitpur district, Divisional Forest Officer of the Park S Daila told PTI.
The other two escaped while Safiqual Islam, a casual employee, was killed even as his colleagues fired in the air to save him, Daila said.
The deceased hails from Kachamari Kathhabi village in Udalguri district.
This was the first rhino attack on a forest staff in the National Park, he added.
