Forest official shot dead

A forest official was shot dead in Mau district of the state, police officials said here today. Ghura Gaur, posted as forest inspector in Marhad forest area of Ghazipur district, was shot at by two unidentified assailants near Iliyaspur village, police said. He had just reached the village by bus and was going home with his nephew on a motorcycle when the assailants attacked him, they added. He was rushed to a private hospital but succumbed to his injuries, police said adding that a case has been registered and investigations were on.
