"After a heated altercation with SSP Mohit Gupta, on Saturday at about 9.00 PM at his residence, Kunwar Singh Nishad, former state general secretary of BJYM was booked under section 151," police said.
BJP leader Nishad had gone to the SSP's residence to lodge a complaint against a sub-inspector of Vrindavan for allegedly manhandling Megha Shyam Gautam, state vice president of BJYM (Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM)), in Vridavan.
Though sub-inspector Pawan Agnihotri, who allegedly manhandled Gautam, was posted at police lines, Nishad went to the SSP's residence, an official said.
Meanwhile, City Magistrate Ram Araj Yadav was apprised of the incident and a bail was issued to Nishad.
"On the request of supporters of Kunvar Singh Nishad, I called my Peshakaar (concerning clerk) and bailed him on personal bonds on Saturday midnight," Yadav said.
