On the recommendation of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Punjab Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki gave his approval for the induction of seven new MLAs as CPSs, an official spokesperson said.
Of them, five are from Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). They are Gurtej Singh Ghuriana (Balluana constituency), Manjit Singh Mianwind (Baba Bakala constituency), Darshan Singh Shivalik (Gill constituency), Gurpartap Singh Wadala (Nakodar constituency) and former Indian hockey captain and MLA Pargat Singh (Jalandhar Cantt constituency).
Two BJP MLAs, who were appointed as CPSs, are Sukhjeet Kaur Sahi (Dasuya constituency) and Seema Kumari (Bhoa constituency).
Last year, Bolaria had raised a banner of revolt opposing the state government's proposal to set up a waste plant in his constituency.
With the seven new appointments, the number of CPSs has risen to 25.
