Jagtap, a veteran Congress leader, represented Koregaon assembly constituency in Satara district for over two decades.
Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, who hails from Satara, described Jagtap as a veteran Gandhian who worked for the development of the district.
Jagtap's work during the 1972 drought in the state was commendable, Chavan added.
Former legislator from Satara, Madan Bhosle, said Jagtap was a role model for the youth entering into politics, and his contribution to development of the region would be remembered.
Jagtap would be cremated at Mahuli near Satara tomorrow, family sources said.
