Opposition Mizo National Front (MNF) president Zoramthanga today filed a criminal defamation case against the state's Congress mouthpiece for allegedly linking him in the murder case of a Presbyterian priest in 2007 when he was the chief minister.
Zoramthanga filed the case against the editor and publisher of the 'Congress Thlifim' in the court of the Judicial Magistrate First Class H Lalduhsanga in Aizawl.
The MNF chief alleged in his petition that an article of the 'Congress Thlifim' in its March 2018 issue quoted a resident of Aizawl who accused Zoramthanga of ordering assassination of the priest who was killed on October one, 2007.
Zoramthanga who was chief minister for two terms between December 4, 1998 and December 9, 2008 said the article has defamed him.
