Former MP Gutha Sukhender Reddy would be the nominee of the ruling TRS in Telangana for the by-election to be held on August 26 to fill a vacancy in the Legislative Council.
TRS president and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao finalised Reddy's name on Saturday, party sources said.
The vacancy arose following the disqualification of K Yadava Reddy on charges of switching over to the Congress.
The notification for the bypoll would be issued on August 7, the Election Commission has announced.
