The students had come to attend 'Addanki Nancharamma' festival at Vishanadhapalli village under Koduru Mandal in the district with their families.
They went to a canal linked to the Krishna river for a swim and were swept away by heavy water currents, Avanigadda DySP Khadar Basha told PTI.
The deceased pupils, aged between 15 to 17 years and studying in classes IX and X, were identified as Jayakrishna, Nagaraju, Srikanth and Pawan. All hailed from Suddhapalli village in adjoining Guntur district, Basha said.
