Fraudulent promotion: Police files charge sheet against AE

Jammu and Kashmir Police have filed a charge sheet against an assistant engineer in a court here for allegedly producing fake certificate to get promotion.
Crime Branch of the state police filed the charge sheet against AE Girdhari Lal in the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Jammu.
Lal has been booked under Sections 420, 465, 468, 471 of Ranbir Penal Code, an officer of Crime Branch said.
A case was registered against Lal, Assistant Engineer posted in the Engineering Wing of Relief Organisation, on the basis of a complaint filed by Relief & Rehabilitation Commissioner (M), Jammu.
It was alleged that Lal was promoted to the rank of Assistant Engineer on the basis of a fake/fictitious promotion order, which was not issued by any competent authority, he said.

"When the matter was probed further it was found that no such promotion order was ever processed or issued by Director of Urban Local Bodies Kashmir," he added.
From the evidence, oral as well as documentary, collected during investigation of the case, the accused person was found to have committed the offences and was accordingly challaned in the court, he said.
