The national transporter carried 677.58 million tonnes (MT) of commodity-wise freight during April-November as compared to 647.01 MT carried during the corresponding period last year, registering an increase of 4.72 per cent.
According to Railway Ministry data, out of the total earnings of Rs 7880.44 cr from commodity-wise freight during November 2013, Rs 3293.18 cr came from transportation of 39.91 MT of coal, followed by Rs 874.23 cr from 10.58 MT of iron ore for exports, steel plants and for other domestic users.
