Frmr Army chief JJ Singh made head of SAD's ex-servicemen wing

Former Army chief General J J Singh (retd) was today appointed as the new president of the ex-servicemen wing of the Akali Dal.
In a statement issued here, Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal announced Singh's appointment.
"Singh has been given the crucial assignment of heading the ex-servicemen wing," he said.
Singh, who had also served as the governor of Arunachal Pradesh, had joined the Akali Dal in January this year.
The former Army chief had unsuccessfully contested against Congress party's Amarinder Singh from Patiala seat during the 2017 Punjab Assembly polls.
Besides, Sukhbir also announced the reappointment of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president Manjit Singh GK as the president of the Delhi SAD unit.
The SAD release said it will be Manjit GK's second term as the president of the Delhi SAD unit.
The party president has also re-nominated former Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee president Bibi Jagir Kaur as chief of the Istri Akali Dal wing while former minister Gulzar Singh Ranike has been re-nominated as the president of the SAD Scheduled Caste wing.
Former Akali minister Hira Singh Gabria has been re- nominated as the president of the SAD Backward Caste wing.
In a message to the Delhi SAD unit president as well as new heads of the party's frontal wings, Sukhbir said, "They should immediately start the process of forming a dynamic team and fan out in the field to address the concerns of the party's rank and file."
Sukhbir said he would also address a meeting of the frontal organisations and jointly work with them to provide succor to each and every section of society.
