It also decided to boycott BJP events until such an apology is tendered by Gadkari. A resolution to this effect was passed at the Press Club meeting held at Patrakar Bhavan here this afternoon.
At a farmers rally held at Desaiganj on October 8 last by his party's district unit, Gadkari had alleged that journalists work by accepting "packages" or bribes.
Gadkari's statement insulted journalists and defamed them, the resolution said, demanding an immediate apology from him.
The Press Club also decided to boycott all BJP events in the district. The meeting was presided over by Press Club president Suresh Padmashali and attended by all members.
The Press Club also expressed its disappointment at the treatment meted out by the BJP rally's organisers, as journalists were made to sit on the floor while reporting the event.
