A self-styled godman, who was on the run for the last eight days, was arrested today for allegedly raping and duping a 24-year-old Afghan national.
The godman was ensnared by policemen from one of his hideouts today in connection with the incident which took place in South-East Delhi's Amar Colony area, police said.
"In her complaint, the woman said she had approached the guru to seek his blessings as she was not doing well in her career. She did so following someone's advice that her career will flourish due to his blessings.
"She alleged the guru gave here some prasad, laced with sedatives. After consuming it, she fell unconscious. Taking advantage the guru allegedly raped her," an official said.
According to the police, the woman also accused the guru of threatening to kill her if she approached police.
The complainant has also charged the guru of cheating her with Rs 10 lakh, police added.
The Afghan national claimed that she paid the money under influence of some black magic. The complainant said when she asked the guru to return her money, he refused and threatened, police said.
The guru went missing after the woman approached police. He was trapped from one of his hideouts with the help of technical surveillance.
A case of rape and cheating has been registered against him, police said.
