Rohit alias Chhotu, Harsh Kumar, Suraj Sharma, Javed Ahmad and Sandeep Kumar were arrested in connection with various auto thefts and burglaries in South Delhi area, a statement issued by the police said.
Two stolen cars have been recovered from them.
Javed and Sandeep were nabbed after they refused to stop as directed by a police patrol team in Mehrauli and fled the spot. While all the five accused were travelling in the Maruti Zen that time, the others escaped.
The other three were subsequently traced and arrested with a stolen Honda City being recovered from them.
During interrogation, Rohit allegedly disclosed that the other four were his associates and they targeted old Honda City cars, opening them with duplicate keys.
He had allegedly been involved in about 12 cases of burglary and auto theft, the police said.
