Russian emergency officials say that an explosion of natural gas in a Moscow apartment building has left one person dead and injured 13 others.
Today's explosion hit an apartment on the 8th floor of a 14-storey building in eastern Moscow and a fire has engulfed several other apartments, according to the Emergencies Ministry. Tass news agency quoted medical officials as saying that one person has died of injuries and 13 others have been hospitalized with burns.
Most apartment buildings in Russia are supplied with natural gas for cooking. The cause of Tuesday's explosion wasn't immediately clear and was being investigated.
