Camphor Cinema, an independent film production company, is making the movie as their maiden film. 'Ramanujan' is an Indo-British collaboration. The film is being directed by Gnana Rajasekaran who was behind films like 'Mogha Mul', 'Bharati' and 'Periyar'.
Apart from Abhinay, Malayali actress Bhama, Suhasini Maniratnam and British stage and screen actor, Kevin McGowan star in the movie.
Set in the early 1900's the film revolves around the life and times of the mathematical prodigy. It is tentatively slated to release by the end of 2013 in English and Tamil.
Desai said the film would be true to Ramanujan's journey from Kumbakonam to Cambridge.
The first shooting schedule which commenced on May 15th, 2013 is complete.
Co-founded by Desai, Srivatsan Nadathur, Sharanyan Nadathur and Sindhu Rajasekaran, the production company has also roped in a talented team of crew. The film will be edited by B Lenin, Cinematography is by Sunny Joseph while Ramesh Vinayagam will serve as the music director.
'Tomorrow Never Dies' director Roger Spottiswoode was also keen on making a biopic on Ramanujan with actor Siddharth.
